Rare and very elegant early 19th century English mahogany table top book stand or reading stand, having a flamed mahogany, single plank tilting book rest with two brass holders raised on a height adjustable turned column, all terminating in turned fluted base. This antique book rest would make a good photograph holder. The bookrest is in good condition, retaining its original colour, patina and antique character. c1830
