P0220 Superb XIXth century French giltwood mirror of versatile form, can be position horizontally or vertically on the wall or floor, having original glass with characterful foxing in giltwood frame. The frame is decorated with scrolls and floral motifs to each corners and centre of the frame. This antique mirror retains its original glass with that desirable foxing, original gilt with some red oxidation showing through and original patina. New backboards fitted with four wall fixing brackets. Sturdy, woodworm free, no loose decoration, no missing elements, all in home ready condition. Feet fitted for protection, easily removed. This striking piece is crafted from wood and gesso and finished in gold leaf, showcasing the ornate craftsmanship typical of the 19th century. The frame is richly embellished with classical scroll motifs. A true statement piece which would add elegance to any interior. c1840
