Impressive and amusing lifesized Pygmy goat, made by Tuilerie du Mesnil de Bavent commonly referred to just as Bavent. Wonderful used condition with expected craquelure to the glaze and minor nibbles. Glass eyes. France Circa 1920 Tuilerie du Mesnil de Bavent The primary business was the production of roof tiles. However by the turn of the century the owner M Aime Jacquier appreciated the uniqueness of the more creative designs that came from his pottery, they were sturdy enough to withstand extreme weather and beautiful enough to be considered art. Alongside his brother Francis, a sculptor they created many wonderful, unusual animal and designed elements that can be found on the rooftops of France today.
