A finely carved French marriage mirror in the Louis XVI Revival manner, . The rectangular moulded frame is surmounted by an elaborate pierced crest centred by a classical urn, from which rises a flowering and foliate spray, flanked by a pair of opposing birds. Scrolling foliage and floral ornament extend across the crest, with further carved foliate details to the sides and distinctive pineapple-form terminals below. The restrained architectural frame provides a pleasing contrast to the exuberant carved surmount, characteristic of French revival furniture of the period. The faintest of foxing has appeared on the mirror plate. condition is commensurate with age with some minor losses and restorations, France, Circa 1930-50.
