Rare Victorian Advertising Trade Sign
We share what we love, and we love this rare example of a late Victorian hand painted on wood trade promotional sign for “Ransomes Sims & Jefferies Ltd Ipswich & England. With a central star form, sat above armorial motifs. Ransomes Sims & Jefferies Ltd produced steam engines, stationary engines, and ploughs in the late 19th / early 20th Century.
Size of inches: H 38” x W 18” x D 1.5”
Completely solid in structure and form, with natural wear and patination across all surfaces due to age. The pine board which has been carved in 2 sections can be seen as shown This is not a split in the wood but how this sign would have been created. The painted surface is missing some detail due to age. I very presentable antique condition considering its age of over 100 years old.
