Item Description
Late 19th Century Hand Crafted Articulated Doll Figure
This wonderful example of a late 19th Century hand crafted doll is fully articulated. Wearing its original clothing with linen trousers, leather boots, velour jacket, brass loop earrings and silk embroidered tasselled hat. The form of this doll resembles a fortune teller of sorts we feel. The head is carved from wood and hand painted, with composite hands. The underbody structure is made from sectioned twisted metal wire, allowing the doll to be moved into different positions as shown. One of the best examples we have seen and so we have decided to present her in a 19th Century French glass dome, which is included in the sale of this rare and beautiful object.
Dimensions in inches: H 20 x D 7 x W 5
Origin: Unknown
Circa: Turn of the Century
Condition: Aged
Completely solid in structure and form, aged surface as shown with a deep natural patina across all areas. Loss of detail across all the clothing with rips and loss. This item does not stand alone but under the dome it can be presented as shown.
