Item Details

Southwest Persian Qashqai. Woven by the only tribe that still partially migrates, as most tribes have these days been settled.  The Qashqai people live in the Zagros Mountains in the Shiraz province and are the biggest and most colourful tribe historically.  This rug is full of stylised plant motifs, animals and flowers and at first glance looks to be symetrical until further looking shows the 2 weavers who would have woven along side each other with an idea of the triple medallion centre motfif and those to fill the field but without tight predrawn design.  Lovely and rich bringing a warmth to a room in rose, soft orange, chocolate rich tones and black tertiary colouring.
