Item Description
A fine Noahs Ark with approx 90 animals the majority of which are single examples, the odd pair is apparent
A few missing ears and elderly repairs as one would expect, age related abrasions scuffs and knocks. The boat caucus is constructed in pine with its original contrasting straw work exterior with a typical sliding door, and the cabin does also come away from the hull. The animals have their original painted grounds and applied textures, and are particularly well stylised and painted.
Straw work like this was often used by sailors & prisoners of war, to simply pass the time and used what materials they had at hand.
Noah and Naamah are present and correct, circa 1860
Ark is
30cm in length
20cm in height
9cm in depth
Sections are missing from the straw work, but this for me only adds to the overall look and appeal.
