A cased display of the infamous Cock Robin, the scene shows Robin on the ground with an arrow in his chest, the culprit above with the bow. The local bird population are mourning his death above, sniffling in their handkerchiefs. The grave digger an owl stands with his shovel in the ground, along with the bell ringer. His coffin with name plaque is being carried in with the reverent a blackbird standing ready with his bible.

With reference to "Walter Potter's Curious World of Taxidermy" by Dr Pat Morris, Brighton taxidermist Swaysland made a Cock Robin case, which annoyed Potter sufficiently that he created a relatively expensive metal strip for his own tableau which reads 'The Original death and burial of Cock Robin' and he protested about Swaysland's rip-off copy in the newspapers. One small clue kindly pointed out by Dr Pat Morris is that the case features several prominent dried flowers which look like Carline Thistles. These are unusual in cases of stuffed birds, but they appear to be quite common on the coastal South Downs near Eastbourne and Brighton and therefore easily accessible to Swaysland
