Item Description
A elegant pair of Brucciani plaster cast legs, previously used by an artist/sculpture.
Domenico Brucciani was born in Lucca, Italy in 1815. He moved to London where he established a Gallery of Casts in Covent Garden by 1837. This business was one of many which emerged in the 19th century, when the copying of art became a lucrative trade across Europe.
The legs have many an elderly repair, their original iron hanging hoops are still embedded with the casts. The legs are not signed by D.B but have the casting number 2862. These legs where purchased along with a large collection of D.B plaster casts from an artist studio. The colour, form and detailing is perfection.
