A very rare and early turn of the century hand penned Tattoo artist flash card, English in origins.


The paper used is a thick almost card like material, the ink is a strong contrasting deep black. The card has plenty of stains, discolouration, nibbles around its extremities and the odd tear.


Sheet features an array of small designs, including crucifixes, sacred hearts, Native Americans, sparrows and skulls. Later framed in a glazed Birds Eye maple and silver gilt slipped frame.

Shaw opened his infamous tattoo studio Fun City in 1976 on the Lower East Side of Manhattan, where he specialised in neo-tribal tattoos and tattooed celebrities Johnny Depp, Iggy Pop, Jim Jarmusch, Kevin Sean Michaels, Max Cavalera (Sepultura) and Kate Moss
