One of eight originally made, film director George Lucas is a notable owner. Carved with marine themes throughout the seat is in the form or a smiling ray and the wheel rims are encircled with eels in relief.
In wonderful original untouched condition, the cranks and peddles are a miss.
Built in 1894 the Sutro Baths contained 1.7 million gallons of water and could accommodate 10,000 bathers. The entrance contained an exhibition of paintings, sculpture, taxidermy, tribal artifacts and even a few Egyptian mummies.
Sutro's outlandish project never made a profit, the enormous operating costs saw it fall into disrepair, marked for demolition it was burned to the ground by arson in 1966.
