A sensational set of five Mid 20th Century Italian hand painted dual compartmentceramic fish serving plates by Il Quadrifoglio, Italy.

These elliptical Il Quadrifoglio pottery fish plates feature a vibrant, hand-painted aesthetic designed byMilvia Scarpa, whose distinctive ‘child’s crayon’ style became famous. The elliptical (oval) shape is functionally split at the top and bottom edges into small compartments to delineate where to serve the fish and where to put the bones.

Quadrifoglio (Italian for "four-leaf clover") was a highly influential mid-century Italian art pottery workshop founded in Florence, Italy in 1955. Operating out of an attic during its early years, the studio became iconic for its whimsical, hand-painted whimsical ceramics, which perfectly captured the expressive, playful style of the1950s and 60s.

The plates are not totally perfect and the pink one has a chip to the side, but they plates are too rare and special not to forgive. They are all still very usable, but should only be hand washed.
