Item Details

An impressive and large fine quality French silver plated oval serving or meat platter with matching serving forks meticulously crafted in France by the historic house of St. Médard, Circa 1940s. In incredibly good vintage condition with virtually no wear or scratches, this versatile set is perfect for meat, fish or vegetables.

Founded in Paris in 1898, Orfèvrerie St. Medard is celebrated as one of France’s most prestigious heritage silversmiths. Revered alongside legendary houses like Christofle and Ercuis, St. Médard became a pillar of European luxury dining during the early-to-mid 20th century. The house achieved widespread acclaim during the Art Deco era of the 1930s and 1940s, producing highly sought-after barware, holloware, and flatware characterised by clean geometric lines and exceptional heavy-gauge silver plating. Bearing the house's distinct "SM" hallmark paired with a bishop’s crozier (a nod to Saint Médard, the patron saint of vineyards and good weather), each piece remains an enduring symbol of classic French craftsmanship and refined vintage elegance.

The serving forks are 25.5cm long and 21.7cm long and are each also stamped with the St Medard mark.
