https://www.decorativecollective.com/dealers/tinker-toadA striking English Arts & Crafts oval wall mirror dating to circa 1900, of a known design retailed by Liberty & Co, London. The broad copper-clad frame has developed a wonderfully rich and varied patina, with tones of copper, bronze, mauve and purple throughout. Four applied circular mounts sit at the cardinal points, each incorporating a stylised Celtic ring motif in contrasting metal, giving the mirror a particularly strong Arts & Crafts character with clear Art Nouveau influence. The mirror retains its original bevelled plate, with slight wear and a few small scratches commensurate with age. The copper surface has been left with its attractive naturally mottled finish, which gives the piece a wonderful character. A particularly decorative example of British Arts & Crafts metalwork, with the distinctive Celtic Revival detailing so closely associated with Liberty at the turn of the 20th century. Dimensions: 70cm high × 55cm wide × 2cm deep.
