A wonderfully sculptural primitive wooden stool with a beautifully worn, pale surface and fabulous organic form. The attractive seat has been carved and hollowed into a distinctive leaf shape, complete with a short projecting stem, and stands on three elegant tapered legs with simple ring-turned decoration. The years have given the timber a particularly lovely light, washed appearance, with knocks, marks and irregularities adding to its wonderfully tactile character. A charming piece of vernacular furniture that works equally well as a stool or, perhaps more appealingly today, as a small side table, bedside table or purely decorative object.
