'Winter Morning Dacia', oil on canvas by Eduard Schramm (1928 - 2011)

There’s something about the light in this painting that immediately catches the eye. The soft, dappled morning sun cutting through the winter trees, catching the snow just so.

⁣The scene is simple but full of life; children wrapped up warm, playing outside a snow-covered cottage, lost in the joy that only a fresh winter morning can bring.

It's hard not to be drawn to the warmth of the light and the spirit of the moment in this well executed oil painting.

Of German heritage, Eduard Schramm’s family has lived in the Volga Region of Russia since the 1920s. His father, also a painter, was a respected member of the Artist’s Union. Following in his footsteps, Eduard studied at the Sureykov Institute in Moscow, where he quickly gained recognition as a talented landscape and genre painter.

Schramm has exhibited extensively throughout Russia, and in recent years his work has drawn increasing attention in Germany and Austria. His masterful ability to capture seasonal variations of light and shadow has earned him widespread critical acclaim.
