This is a precious and rare antique French angel that was discovered recently in the South of France. Dating from the mid 19th century this open winged little angel is hand carved from white marble as a high relief - a method of carving in which the subject stands out from the surface. This is a gorgeous and highly decorative sculptural treasure that measures about 27 x 15.5 x 2.5 cm or approximately 10.6 x 6.1 x 1 inches. It is exactly as I discovered it and in lovely antique condition with minor signs of ageing that are expected from the items of this period. For the full condition please refer to the images!
