This is an exquisite and extremely rare antique French bronze cast that dates from the early 19th century. Discovered recently in Avignon in the South of France this outstanding sculptural treasure is of exceptional artistic quality and craftsmanship that went into its creation. It depicts a sunburst or the rays of light - a metaphorical representation of Heaven. The central part features a magnificent Eagle and a Snake that represent the conflict between good and evil. This imagery frequently appears in sacred texts and interpretations, highlighting the struggle between spiritual forces and the ultimate triumph of good. The top is adorned with the Eye of God. This sacred treasure measures about 26.5 x 37.5 x 7 cm or approximately 10.4 x 14.7 x 2.7 inches and it is in great antique condition with signs of ageing mainly seen in a stunning patina created by the passage of time.
