Item Details

This is a fabulous antique French wood carving that dates from the mid 19th century. Discovered recently, the carving is in the shape of a floral garland adorned with a large ribbon bow. Once it was fully gilded and most certainly was the crowning part of a large fame or an armoire. Through the passage of time some of the gilding has flaked away creating in the proccess a mesmerising distressed patina of exceptional beauty. It measures about 51.5 x 17 x 5.5 cm or approximately 20.2 x 6.6 x 2.1 inches, with signs of ageing mainly seen in its captivating weathered appeal.
