This is a magnificent and extremely rare antique French decorative urn that dates from the later part of the 18th century. Discovered recently in the South of France, this exceptional treasure is hand carved from wood in the shape of a large urn that was once a part of a grand interior. Through the passage of time a fascinating distressed patina has been created that in my opinion only brings forth its true beauty and splendour today. It measures about 71 x 47 x 47 cm or 28 x 18.5 x 18.5 inches and it is exactly as I discovered it, with signs of ageing that are mainly seen in its exquisite patina.
