This is a truly magnificent and extremely rare antique European painting of Madonna and Child that dates from the 17th century or earlier.


It comes most certainly from the Flemish school and it is an oil on wood panel created with great artistic expression and mastery.


The colours are still exquisite and overall condition relatively good considering its impressive age.


There is a minute flaking of the paint visible on the top of the painting above the Madonna's head. This hardly take any of its stunning beauty and splendour today.


The painting measures about 25 x 20 cm or approximately 9.8 x 7.8 inches. It was reframed recently in an elaborate and quiet exquisite wood frame in blue tones with gilded details. The frame is about 46 x 40 cm or approximately 18.1 x 15.7 inches.


This is an exquisite ancient treasure, a fine master painting of remarkable quality and meaning - and exactly as I discovered it recently in the South of France. For the full condition please refer to the images.
