This is a majestic antique Spanish santo of Madonna and Child that dates from the mid 19th century. Exquisite in its breathtaking beauty and tender tranquility it is masterfully hand carved from wood and painted, with exception of the eyes which are made out of glass. The arms of both figures can move slightly so that they could be placed in a desired position. The baby is truly adorable. The Madonna statue that still bears the original cut crystal earrings is mounted on a fascinating stand [partially gilded] with a serpent. This is a remarkable and outstanding treasure that is in lovely antique condition with minor signs of ageing and a stunning patina which in my opinion only brings forth its true beauty and splendour today. It is exactly as I discovered it in Barcelona. For the full condition please refer to the images!
