This is an absolutely stunning antique French Agnus Dei or the Lamb of God that dates from the 19th century. Sometimes also refered as the Easter Lamb, this exquisite treasure is created as a magnificent goldwork embroidery on a cream/golden silk background. It is framed in an elaborate deep black wood frame with gilded details. The frame in itself is a work of art in my opinion. It measures about 47 x 54.5 x 6 cm or approximately 18.5 x 21.4 x 2.3 inches. It is in great antique condition and exactly as I discovered it recently in Avignon in the South of France.
