A handsome 19th century English wrought iron side gate beautifully handcrafted with decorative spikes across the top and centre.


Dating to circa 1870, this antique garden gate has stood the test of time, a black painted finish only adding to its unique beauty.


Its simple, traditional design will make a beautiful addition to gardens and courtyards period and contemporary alike, bringing both security and style to a property.


Wrought Iron Garden Gates


Gates and ironwork made from wrought iron have stood the test of time. This traditional method of craftsmanship sees the metal heated to a high temperature and then hammered into shape by a blacksmith’s hand, creating a robust and durable finish.


The more wrought iron is worked, the stronger it becomes, making some of the most ornate antique gates some of the strongest. Large scale commercial production of wrought iron products ended in the mid 1970s due to the expensive and time-consuming nature of blacksmithing, making wrought iron gates true antiques, showcasing talented craftsmanship of the past.


CONDITION REPORT


Good structural condition. Fitted with a replacement latch and hinge pins. Black paint in reasonable condition. Top coat necessary once installed.
