Item Details

A vibrant antique artisan stained glass window with floral patterns. This beautifully vibrant window dates from the late 19th century, but its intrinsic eye-catching design would make a spectacular focal point in properties old and new. Its centre holds a four petal bright flower, while other floral and foliage patterns surround it.

This reclaimed stained glass would look particularly exceptional as a part of a modern renovation of a period property or traditional home, in-keeping with the aged features.

Stained glass

The process of making stained glass begins with creating a drawing of the design, first in a smaller version and then a full-sized one known as a cartoon. The next step is cutting solid pieces of coloured glass, before decorating textured glass with enamel paints and using lead or copper frames to hold the glass together.

This traditional method was first recorded in the late 11th century.

CONDITION REPORT

Good structural condition. Unrestored. Various small cracks, mainly to the perimeter. Fitted into a temporary pine frame. Photographed in front of a light box.
