Item Details

A striking Belgian townscape painted in oil on board, with confident palette knife work, layered rooftops and a dramatic cathedral skyline.

The artist remains unidentified, but the painting is anything but anonymous in quality. Strong composition, assured handling of paint and a restrained, sophisticated palette place it firmly within the tradition of post-war Belgian modernism. c.1955–1970

Rather than relying on a signature, this is a painting that stands on its own merits. It's exactly the sort of overlooked work that deserves a second look: well painted, visually engaging and full of character.
