Item Details

A semi-rural domestic study painted with an assured hand, centred on a weather beaten caravan. The sky does the emotional heavy lifting here, a brooding, weather laden expanse that gives the caravan its sense of precarious, lived reality.

The scattered objects and washing on the line gives it a nod to Kitchen Sink realism in the way the painter observes ordinary life without sentiment or embellishment.

The muted palette, expressive brushwork and grounded subject matter create a truthful, unvarnished atmosphere, the kind of British realism shaped by memory, weather and circumstance.
