Item Details

Firmly attributed to Henry Kettle, this is a Fine Sheraton Period Harewood, Satinwood & Inlaid Cabinet On Stand. Raised on square tapered legs with floral marquetry inlay and united by a cross stretcher and with a frieze drawer above. The cabinet has oval panels inlaid into the doors, sides and top which are further embellished with intricate geometric inlays of Satinwood, Box Wood and ebony. A fine example of 18th century cabinet making in very good and original condition. 990mm high, 490mm wide and 310mm deep. English. Circa 1785.

N.B. Henry Kettle was an 18th-century London cabinet-maker, upholsterer, and undertaker active from around 1770 to 1797. Operating primarily out of St. Paul's Churchyard (initially at No. 23 as the successor to Philip Bell, and later at No. 18), he produced fine George III-period furniture, often identified by rare trade labels attached to the pieces.
