https://www.decorativecollective.com/dealers/walpolesAn eighteenth-century silver form, silvered brass taperstick. With a knopped stem, stepped and shaped square base struck beneath with the maker's marks, 'IW' at opposing corners and a fleur de lis struck to the other two opposing corners.
The marks identified as those used by one John Walker, "Ironmonger and Brazier of Cheapside, London, who advertised "all Sorts of new-fashion’d French Plate so neatly finish’d that it is not to be discern’d from real Silver, he having the very best Workmen, and by him they are wholly employ’d".
