Item Details

A rare Qing Dynasty painting of a mother resting on a pillow whilst nursing her baby son, reclining on a hardwood bed inlaid with painted marble panels. She has delicately bound feet within black embroidered slippers and wears a black-edged floral-decorated robe over a deep red under-garment and blue silk trousers. A young female attendant is seated behind her, similarly attired. The scene is framed by a tied-back curtain with a red pelmet which is decorated with prunus blossom.


Within an original Chinese Export carved and parcel-gilt lacquered 'Chippendale' frame. Circa 1870
