An early eighteenth century snuffbox made from tortoiseshell decorated with silver pique together with applied silver leaves; the two halves joined with a silver band, the raised hinged lid with a pierced silver design of two birds meeting over a flaming heart.


Probably northern Italy, circa 1720.
