A pair of William De Morgan tin glazed polychrome decorated Carnation Tiles, the second most popular of De Morgan's tile designs, again, designed for fitting into a cast iron fire surround, one side mirroring the other, as can be appreciated with this pair of tiles. Made at Merton Abbey and with that pottery's handsome, impressed back stamp.

6 inches x 6 inches.

The left hand tile in good order with tiny chip top right hand corner and again near to bottom right hand corner. The left hand tile frittered top right edge, corner chip bottom left hand corner, bottom edge with two more small chips, one badly filled with a luminous white filler!
