This English console side table, dating to circa 1880, is a beautifully balanced example of late 19th-century design, combining restrained decoration with elegant proportions and practical form.


The table is topped with a faux marble painted surface, carefully finished to replicate the subtle veining and tonal variation of aged stone. A shaped back upstand adds architectural presence while also providing a visual frame, making the piece particularly effective when positioned against a wall.


Below the top sits a single drawer, neatly integrated into the apron and accented with decorative circular paterae, lending a classical note without excess ornament. The table stands on slender, turned legs, which introduce vertical rhythm and lend the piece a light, refined stance.


Finished in White’s Antiques’ distressed mottled inky black base, the surface has been carefully layered to evoke depth, age, and authenticity. Subtle variations in tone and texture enhance the table’s historic character while ensuring it remains versatile and visually calm within a wide range of interiors.
