Item Description
A Particularly Large and Fine English 18th Century Oak Dresser Base.
Standing on five legs, the front three with club feet. The drawers having plate brass handles and escutcheon plates. This dresser base is extremely impressive. The figured top has acquired a beautiful colour and both it and the drawer fronts are finely crossbanded for decorative effect. The dresser has a nicely executed serpentine apron to the frieze, giving the otherwise rectangular piece a sense of grace and movement. There are four drawers of equal size in the frieze and they are all deep enough to give abundant storage space. The sides of the dresser have been nicely panelled and the decorative apron is employed here as well - a sign of particularly good quality.
A very finely made piece of country furniture.
