Art Deco was a style that followed on from the Art Nouveau movement in the early part of the 20th Century. Many believe the period to be between 1920 and 1930, but in fact the seeds of this style started well before then. It began as a very colourful and exhuberant style. Another characteristic was that whether in architecture, furniture, jewellery or other area of design Art Deco was applied, it usually combined fine materials and craftsmanship and it wasn't until after 1930 that it became more sobre.
The Decorative Collective has a good selection throughout the site of Art Deco furniture items and this section covers. We have also included in this section Art Deco 'style' seating, which means though later and not Art Deco, it is either influenced by or taken from that style.
