A daybed or chaise longue are not the same as beds, rather they are intended for lounging on, rather then sleeping on. They pre-date the sofa and in ancient Greece, they were actually called Klines. Daybeds are a cross between a bed, a sofa and a chaise longue. Technically a daybed is a flat surface that allows the body to lie horizontally. A chaise longue, which was developed in the 17th Century, is a cross between a chair and a daybed.
The Decorative Collective offers a range from the Victorian period through to the late 20th Century. They are often found in bedrooms or informal area of the home and can be great for relaxing on as they enable you to stretch out.
