Item Description
A Fine 19th Century English Burr Oak Pedestal Kneehole Desk of Excellent Colour.
This lovely desk employs finely figured timbers for the top, the grain swirling and the timber with great variation in colour and shade. The top has a deep projecting moulding around all four sides. Each pedestal contains four graduated drawers with brassware and there is also a concealed drawer in the frieze above the kneehole. The drawer fronts make great use of the medullary rays in the oak for decorative effect. The sides of the desk are both panelled. The desk stands on a plinth base and has a concealed cupboard with an adjustable shelf inside the kneehole.
A very nice example.
