Item Description
A 19th Century English Regency Period Painted Tripod Occasional Table with Original Inset Watercolour Painting.
This fine, interesting table has original white painted finish with parcel gilding. A form of tripod table that first appeared in the Sheraton period c.1790. The table has a finely turned diagonally fluted stem and small bun feet. The bold moulding to the edge of the top and the lovely gilt slip to the inner edge holding the painting in place are clear signs of this being a regency period piece as the palmette and anthemion design depicted here is one of the staples of regency decoration.
The centre of the top contains a fine watercolour of flowers which retains its vibrant colouring. A lovely table in original condition and with a great decorative appeal.
