Item Description
A 19th Century French Walnut and Burr Walnut Guéridon with Stunning Marble Top.
This table stands on a central stem with baluster turning and four gently curving feet. The feet are in figured walnut with wide, straight grain patterning. The baluster is made from straighter grained wood and the frieze of the table above is made from burr walnut which has acquired an excellent colour and patination and is very finely figured.
This is not our usual type of item but we couldn't resist with the stunning piece of original marble!
We know both who made this table and the name of the first owner, due to the survival of a label underneath the top. The label records that the piece was made by Cabrol, Rue Neuve Castelmoutou No. 1, Castres in France for a Monsieur Ferret, a notary (lawyer).
