Item Description
A framed Gouache Portrait Painting from France of a Young Boy wearing a big hat. The painting came from the 'Acadamie Colarossi' in Paris (see label on reverse), which was a school of painting and sculpture founded in 1872 by the Italian sculptor Fillippo Colarossi at no. 10 rue de la Grande Chaumiere, where students painted and sculpted from live models.
The painting which dates from about 1882 has 'MS' monogram signature (bottom right), and is in its original gilded frame, now with a small amount of wear and damage.
The boy has a rather endearing dreamy quality.
Classed as 'French School'
Measures 21 inches high x 17 wide ( 51 x 43 cms) Circa 1875-1900
