Item Description

Rare and Gem-like 18th Century Mirror from France made for a Ladies' Boudoir, the Red/Orange 'Bole' underlay showing on the Frame, and with original Gold and Silver Gilding adorning the Floral Carved pediment. ( Primary photo taken in my flat shows carved angel figure).

The top motif on the pediment being possibly a primitive or naive version of the 'Fleur-de-Lys, the French royal symbol- the 'Lillies' on the Bourbon flag of France.

An exquisite original piece from pre-revolutionary France. Measures 24 inches high x 13 wide,. In acceptably good condition with various wear and imperfections from its age and usage. An ancient piece of wood on the back gives support to the pediment. The original white bole, the gilder's underla, is visible in places.

Made in France circa 1700-1780
