Item Description
1930s Solid Oak Glazed School Bookcase Cabinet By Crusader London
We have a lovely solid English oak part glazed bookcase/cabinet C1930 by Crusader, St James Square London, makers transfer to both sides of the top section and inside the lower doors.
This one’s a good looking piece from Crusader and an early piece using fine solid oak rather than veneers making it not only heavier but a little more handsome! The useful and attractive set up is a lower panelled section of two doors with a fixed shelf inside. The top section being of leaded framed glass with a deep oak frame and a lesser seen interior of sections which can be altered in volume. The cabinet possesses a nice deep bottom plinth and an open shelf galleried top - again not always seen on this type of cabinet.
Condition is good - we have two working locks and keys to the top and lower half, gentle aging to the well toned oak, no breaks or cracks to the original glass, overall it sits firm and has enjoyed a careful repolish in our workshop - so expect sensible day to day wear. The cabinet does separate into two for easier moving and placing. Very placeable.
A good well designed and handsome piece from Crusader of London.
