Georgian 18th Century Gilt Brass Lion Front Door Entrance Fixture Knocker.
In the stylized model form of the traditional masculine lion.
The lion knocker somes with the original round knocker striking disc, this model is exceptionallt rare as it depicts the model form of a whole lion rather then just the face that is typically seen. Along with being quite hevay for its small size being 1143 grams excluding the weight of the striking disc.
A feature that stands out is the casting detail to the lions body, paws, tail & face which is exceptional.
Origin from England.
So impressive & collectible.
Made from solid brass with some partial original gilding remaining.
A nice display size being 15.5 cm in length and 4.5 cm wide and 16 cm in depth.
So well cast and beautifully made to last many lifetimes.
