Item Description
A pair of delicately carved small Medieval cloister capitals from one of the great Northern Monasteries or Abbeys. Reputedly from Riveaulx or Fountains Abbey. 13th-14th Century.
Saved from a Yorkshire Country House garden, and formerly in our private collection.
Hand-carved in soft yellow sandstone.
These are superb sculptural elements in their own right, but also make exquisite sculpture stands, or divine bookends!
