Item Description
Beautiful mid 19th.c. French three seater cherrywood settle with hand painted panels c.1860. Straight top rail raised on turned spindles and three 5½" x 9" backsplats painted with male figures in Renaissance costume within a leaf garland. Straight arms on turned supports over a rushwork seat with a thick upholstered seat pad. Raised on eight legs joined with stretchers to each side to make a very sturdy seat. Some old woodworm holes (treated) at the rear, otherwise excellent condition with clean and serviceable upholstery. Very good colour to the timber, cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
