Item Description
Impressively large bronze figure of 'Triomphe du Genie' (Triumph of Genius) by the French sculptor Henri Fugére (1872-1944) c.1920. Allegorical sculpture of a Neo-Classical male figure in a loin cloth holding a book in one hand, the other raised with a pointing finger. Stood astride an urn with a laurel crown from which gushes a nourishing flow of water. Cast in bronze with a patinated finish. Titled on the front of the base and signed at the right hand side. Very slight movement and some wear to the finish around the join of the figure's right arm. Otherwise excellent condition.
