Item Description
Smart French brass inlaid rosewood bow front chest of drawers c.1920. Useful narrow dimensions, just 29" wide. Original well figured rouge griotte marble top with a shaped and moulded edge. Over a chest of six drawers (internal dimensions 22" x 13", height 5¼"). Rosewood veneered exterior with large decorative gilded brass handles and escutcheons. Inlaid brass stringing to the drawer fronts and cabinet sides. Inlaid brass flutes to the front corners and repeated between the drawers. Shaped apron between the legs and further gilded mounts to the front feet. Oak drawer linings and back panel. Some of the brass inlay has been replaced with pale wooden stringing on a couple of the drawer fronts. Otherwise very good colour and condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops. Key supplied to work all six locks.
