Item Description
A rare and charming collection of antique two-tone glazed confit or anchovy pots, originally used in Southern Italy for the preserving of foods in oil or brine. Sourced from the coastal regions around the Bay of Naples, a renowned heartland of ceramics, these antique pots date from the late 18th to early 19th century.
With their two-tone finish, these are a classic style of pots with their handcrafted and rounded body and twin ‘ear’ handles and characteristic indents for tying linen cloths to seal the oiled foods. Today they can be used for a wide variety of used, from decorative vases, chic kitchen accessories to standalone pieces. Due to their age and utilitarian past, do expect minor signs of wear including small chips, and glaze imperfections – each contributing to their individual character and authenticity.
