Item Description
The beautiful French wall mirror of rectangular form, having the original sparkling mercury glass plate, surrounded by an ebony stained pine moulded frame to a gilt gesso inner slip, the whole surviving from Restauration period France.
The original mirror plate has wonderful clouding and attractive foxing though it can still be used as intended. The gilding is beautifully worn with an all over craquelure and there is no overpainting. There are no losses and it remains completely original aside from the backing boards being lacking with some slight movement to the frame.
A delightful mirror which would suit being grouped with other wall art or as a stand-a-lone in a bathroom, for instance.
